A new frontier in cancer detection

The Galleri® test is a pioneering multi-cancer detection blood test that can screen for a cancer signal across more than 50 types of cancer from a single blood sample, often before symptoms appear. Preologi provides clinician-led access to the test – including eligibility guidance, interpretation of your result and support with follow-up care when it’s needed.

One blood test. More than 50 cancer types screened.

The Galleri® test was developed by GRAIL, a leading life sciences company. It analyses cell-free DNA – small fragments of DNA released into the bloodstream by cells throughout the body, including cancer cells. By identifying methylation patterns associated with cancer, the test can screen for a cancer signal and, when a signal is found, predict where in the body it may have originated. This helps clinicians direct any further investigation quickly and efficiently. Galleri® is an additional screening tool. It does not diagnose cancer and does not replace routine NHS cancer screening or any tests recommended by your healthcare provider.

  • Analysis – cell-free DNA: the test examines DNA fragments circulating in the blood and looks for patterns associated with cancer
  • Precision – predicted tissue of origin: when a signal is detected, the test predicts the most likely location to help guide targeted investigation
  • Simple – one blood sample: no fasting or complex preparation; a routine blood sample is all that’s required

Who should consider the Galleri® test?

The Galleri® test can be provided to adults aged 22 and over, but is recommended for those with an elevated risk of cancer, including people aged 50 or over. That includes anyone with a personal or family history of cancer, smokers or former smokers, and those who want to take a proactive approach to their health. A Preologi clinician will review your age, medical history and any current treatment before confirming whether the test is right for you.

More than 50 cancer types

Screening from a single blood sample

Galleri® screens for cancer signals associated with more than 50 cancer types, including many for which there is no routine screening programme in the UK. Cancer types include:

Colorectal
Lung
Pancreatic
Ovarian
Liver
Stomach
Esophageal
Breast
Prostate
Kidney
Bladder
Thyroid
Hodgkin lymphoma
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
Multiple myeloma
Adrenal
Ampulla
Appendix
Bile duct
Bone
Bowel
GIST
Pregnancy-related
Voice box
Merkel cell
Pleura
Nose and sinuses
Nasopharynx
Neuroendocrine tumours
Mouth
Throat
Penis
Small bowel
Soft tissue
Testis
Upper urinary tract
Uterus
Vagina
Vulva

The Galleri® test can detect cancers across 12 tissue types and multiple blood cancers from a single blood sample.

Early detection matters

Almost half of cancers in the UK are diagnosed at stage 3 or 4, when treatment can be more complex and outcomes often limited. Finding cancer earlier can provide greater options for investigation and treatment. Galleri® is designed to screen for a cancer signal before symptoms appear. It cannot detect every cancer and does not guarantee an earlier diagnosis, but it can identify a concerning signal sooner.

Understanding what the results can and cannot tell you

99.6% specificity
fewer than 1 in 200 people without cancer will receive a false-positive result
73.7% sensitivity
For 12 high-mortality cancers, sensitivity varies significantly by cancer type and stage
50+ cancer types
Screened with a predicted tissue of origin when a signal is found
4X increase
In screen-detected cancers vs standard UK screening programmes in the NHS-Galleri® clinical study

False-positive and false-negative results can occur, and a Cancer Signal Detected result always requires confirmatory diagnostic investigation.

An additional layer of proactive health screening

The Galleri® test is not a replacement for NHS screening programmes or diagnostic tests. You should continue to attend all bowel, breast, cervical, lung or other screening offered to you, and seek medical advice about any symptoms or concerns. Galleri® complements these programmes by screening for a cancer signal across many cancer types, including cancers for which no routine population screening currently exists.

A clinician will confirm whether the test is suitable for you

You are older than 22
You are not pregnant
You are not currently undergoing active cancer treatment
You understand the test is additional to routine cancer screening and medical care
You are willing to proceed with further diagnostic testing if a cancer signal is detected

The test is recommended particularly for people aged 50 or over, or those with other factors that may increase cancer risk. Suitability is confirmed individually by a Preologi clinician.

Simple, clear and guided by experts

1

Book your test

Our team will review your information, confirm your eligibility and explain the process before you proceed

2

Provide a blood sample

A trained phlebotomist takes a routine blood sample at a Preologi clinic or approved partner. No fasting is required, and the appointment usually takes 15 to 20 minutes

3

Laboratory analysis

Your blood sample is processed and analysed by the GRAIL laboratory using next-generation sequencing. Results are typically available within 14 days after the sample is received

4

Receive your result

If a cancer signal is detected a qualified clinician will explain your result clearly, answer your questions and talk you through recommended next steps

5

Follow-up support

Preologi helps coordinate appropriate confirmatory investigations through specialist clinical channels

The Galleri® test costs £1,300

The fee includes a comprehensive analysis of your result and, if needed, a follow-up appointment with a specialist. Should you have any questions before booking, the Preologi team can explain the process, what’s included and when further diagnostic investigations may carry a separate cost. Just get in touch by email or phone.

Two possible results, both explained by a clinician

No Cancer Signal Detected

No cancer signal was found in your blood at the time of testing. This can be reassuring, but it does not guarantee you are cancer-free and does not predict whether you may develop cancer in future. You should continue all routine screening and seek medical advice about any symptoms or concerns

Cancer Signal Detected

A signal associated with cancer was found, and the test will predict the most likely tissue of origin. This is not a cancer diagnosis. Further investigation is always required to confirm whether cancer is present

Whatever your result, you are supported throughout your screening

Preologi’s clinical team will explain your result and the appropriate next steps. When a Cancer Signal Detected result is received, we work with a network of leading oncologists and diagnostic radiologists to arrange further investigation promptly, so any follow-up is expert-led, thorough and timely. Our aim is to make sure you understand what your result means, what it does not mean, and what to do next.

Answers to common questions

It’s recommended for adults at elevated risk of cancer, including people aged 50 or over. It may also suit people with a personal or family history of cancer, smokers or former smokers, and those taking a proactive approach to their health. A clinician confirms suitability

No. It’s additional, and should be used alongside all routine NHS screening and medical care recommended for you

The test did not find a signal at the time of testing. It does not rule out cancer and should not be treated as a definitive all-clear

A clinician explains the result and helps arrange the diagnostic investigations needed to establish whether cancer is present

Typically within 14 days from receipt of the sample

Specificity is high, but sensitivity varies by cancer type and stage. False-positive and false-negative results can occur. It’s a screening tool, not a diagnosis

Important Safety Information

The Galleri® test is recommended for use in adults with an elevated risk for cancer, such as those aged 50 or older. The test does not detect all cancers and should be used in addition to routine cancer screening tests recommended by a healthcare provider. The Galleri® test is intended to detect cancer signals and predict where in the body they are located. Use of the test is not recommended in individuals who are pregnant, 22 years old or younger, or undergoing active cancer treatment.

Results should be interpreted by a healthcare provider in the context of medical history, clinical signs, and symptoms. A test result of No Cancer Signal Detected does not rule out cancer. A test result of Cancer Signal Detected requires confirmatory diagnostic evaluation by medically established procedures (e.g., imaging) to confirm cancer.

If cancer is not confirmed with further testing, it could mean that cancer is not present or testing was insufficient to detect cancer, including due to the cancer being located in a different part of the body. False positive (a cancer signal detected when cancer is not present) and false negative (a cancer signal not detected when cancer is present) test results do occur.
